Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (Flughafen Frankfurt-Hahn GmbH) as well other operating companies of the HNA Airport Group filed for insolvency proceedings with the district court in Bad Kreuznach. The court granted the airport’s application today, 19 October 2021, and appointed as provisional insolvency administrator the experienced restructuring expert Dr Jan Markus Plathner from the Frankfurt-based law firm Brinkmann & Partner, which operates throughout Germany.
“My team and I will now obtain an overview of the current situation of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport on site. At the same time, we will explore the possibilities for the company’s reorganisation,” said the provisional insolvency administrator in an initial statement. The workforce of Frankfurt-Hahn Airport will be informed in due time. The next step will be to pay the wages and salaries of the employees, initially through advance financing of insolvency money.
Important notice for all travellers and freight forwarders: Frankfurt-Hahn Airport will continue to operate fully, and all air traffic will take place as planned by the airlines. Passengers who have specific questions should contact their airline directly.
This is the second insolvency proceeding of a German airport for Dr Plathner: In 2014, he was appointed insolvency administrator of Zweibruecken Airport. Plathner was, for instance, also appointed the insolvency administrator of the airlines XL Airways Germany and OLT as well as a ground service company at Tegel Airport.
